Ghana: Up Close and Personal
November 3-18, 2008

Space is limited and going fast!

Join Obo and Susan Addy and a small group of creative people like yourself in this unique opportunity to experience Ghana up close and personal! Enjoy authentic music, dance, food and cultural events as you travel through the country -- plus get in on the ground floor as Homowo's expands its mission to include literacy by working to build a library in Ghana.

Ghanaian Hand Drumming
Private lessons in drumming are available by calling the Homowo office at 503/288-3025.


West African Dance Classes
Homowo welcomes a new partnership with Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center by offering classes with dance teacher Richard Sokpor. Richard is a former member of the National Dance Company of Ghana and has trained and performed tribal dance specific to many cultures and villages within Ghana as well as contemporary dance. >> Register directly through IFCC.

Lewis and Clark Classes will begin again in September in

Summer 2008:
Homowo African Arts & Cultures is back again with summer camps providing rich cultural experiences for one week at a time. The summer Arts Camps are designed to introduce youngsters to a variety of performing arts activities while learning about the richness of Africa and cultural arts . Classes are taught by Homowo performers who share their knowledge of Ghanaian drumming and dance through lively activities. Students will learn to play some basic drum rhythms, dance, hear African Stories and generally be immersed in African culture for one week.
